Paying part of your tuition fee

Lending you a keyboard

You can request Music Literacy to loan you a keyboard from our small pool of keyboards if keyboards are available. There is a nominal $5 monthly fee for this.

Who we are

The Music Literacy Project

Music Literacy, Inc is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting music literacy among young children in Berkshire County, Massachusetts through various funding programs. Our PianoKids Initiative funds music enrichment programs in elementary schools and in after-school settings in Massachussets, Connecticut, and Ohio. We mainly fund music programs that use technology and are related to cognitive development and improving math skills in young children.

The Music Scholarship Program raises funds from local businesses to enable low-income families to send their children to a PianoKids after-school program in their school. Since its inception in 2003 the organization has subsidized 76 Berkshire County students from low income families, and established a small pool of lending keyboards for home practicing.

Music Literacy, Inc is a 501(c)3 tax exempt charitable organization incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Mission

Our mission is to increase music literacy among young people, to help develop technology tools that teach children to read and understand music, to support educational initiatives that use music to develop the mind, and help low-income families provide quality music education to their children.

History

Music Literacy, Inc. (“The Music Literacy Project”) was formed in 2003 under the umbrella of The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation. In 2006 it was incorporated as a not-for-profit charitable organization in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and a 501(c)3 corporation.
Since 2003 the organization has raised over $38,000 and distributed 76 financial aid packages to students from low-income families. Music Literacy, inc. also funds a small lending pool keyboards for home practicing.
